Mi Casa 2027 - Casamance Art Studio
The Casamance
is one of the most biodiverse areas in Senegal, with the largest parts covered by mangrove forest alongside the Casamance River, which gives the region its name. Per hectare, mangroves can store four times more carbon than terrestrial rainforests and have become one of the country's best kept ecologial sites.
The land speaks
Having an atelier in such a space isn't just an exotic experience abroad, but brings a deep connection with the very land and materials one is working with during the time they're here.
Like many areas in the north, even the Casamance is struggling with plastic waste, and by facilitating art retreats, we strongly contribute to spreading not only global awareness but especially among local people who often have no idea about the extreme consequences that plastic pollution can have in their own territory.
